Objective:
- Teachers will learn the key ideas and essential principles behind ABA.
- Teachers will see why ethical practice is important at ABA.
Materials:
- Slides showing the basics and principles of ABA
- Real-life examples for thinking about ethics
- Virtual reality setup to practice ethical situations
Activities:
Getting to know ABA (30 minutes):
- Check out the ABA backstory, core ideas, and main theories.
- Talk about how people use ABA in different places, focusing on dealing with challenging behaviors.
Ethical considerations (30 minutes):
- Show ethical guidelines that apply to the practice of ABA
- Talk about real-life case studies in which ethical issues arise and how to solve them.
- Ask a group to talk about why ethical practice is important.
VR Navigation Tutorial (20 minutes):
- Give a lesson on how to move and interact in the virtual reality world used for training.
- Allow participants to review the VR settings to make sure they are comfortable before starting more complex tasks.
Evaluation:
- Educators will take a quiz on ABA principles and ethical considerations.
- Hands-on assessment through virtual reality interactions in which teachers show how they put ethical standards into practice.
Lesson Plan 4: ABA Techniques – Using Prompts and Fading

Objective:
- Teachers will learn and practice various prompting strategies and how to fade them out over time.
Materials:
- Virtual reality system with request scenarios
- Booklets detailing the types of prompting and fading techniques
- Sample videos showing effective use of prompting and fading techniques
Activities:
Introduction to the use of prompts (20 minutes):
- Talk about different prompts: verbal, visual, physical, and model.
- Give examples and discuss why it is crucial to choose the right prompts based on each student’s needs.
Virtual reality incitement practice (40 minutes):
- Teachers will enter a virtual reality environment designed to practice using different prompts.
- The task begins with a scenario that requires many prompts and narrows them down as the learner moves through the scene.
- Teachers will receive instant feedback within the world of virtual reality.
Time for team talk and reflection (20 minutes):
- Talk about what it was like to use prompts in virtual reality.
- Consider the challenging parts of narrowing down prompts and how to handle them in real classrooms.
Evaluation:
- Teachers will write a diary entry about their time using prompts and reducing them in virtual reality.
- The rating depends on how well they fade-out the prompts during VR tasks.
