Lesson Plan 5: Ways to Reinforce Behaviors in ABA

Objective:
- Teachers will understand how reinforcement works in ABA and discover ways to use positive reinforcement techniques online.
Materials:
- Virtual reality system with reinforcement scenarios
- Brochures describing reinforcement methods
- Sheets to record reinforcement works
Activities:
Introduction to Booster (20 minutes):
- Talk about reinforcement in ABA, with a focus on positive reinforcement.
- Look at the different types of reinforcers and how to choose them based on what each person likes.
VR reinforcement (40 minutes):
- Teachers will use a virtual reality scenario to practice giving reinforcers.
- The VR system will show reinforcers such as virtual prizes, the opening of new levels, or praise that you can see or hear.
- Teachers will practice changing reinforcers to fit the learning profiles that occur on the screen.
Analysis of the effectiveness of the reinforcer (20 minutes):
- Use the datasheets to track the effectiveness of the reinforcer in the VR scenario.
- Talk about examining data to make smart decisions about the use of different reinforcers.
Evaluation:
- Teachers will turn in their fact sheets for review, demonstrating that they can track and study the effectiveness of the reinforcer.
- A quick test on the reinforcement, both the ideas behind it and how to use it.
Lesson Plan 6: Task Analysis and Behavior Modeling in ABA

Objective:
- Teachers will learn how to break down large tasks into smaller, easier steps using task analysis and practice modeling techniques in a virtual environment.
Materials:
- Virtual reality configuration with scenarios for task analysis
- Worksheets for task analysis
- Videos that show modeling methods
Activities:
Task Analysis Summary (20 minutes):
- Talk about what task analysis is and why it’s important in ABA.
- Look at examples of task analysis in different areas, such as job training or everyday skills.
Virtual reality task analysis (40 minutes):
- Teachers will practice breaking down a complex task in the VR world into smaller, more doable steps.
- Use checklists that you can interact with in VR to make sure each step is done correctly.
Modeling and shaping techniques (30 minutes):
- Talk about the modeling and shaping processes and how to reward small steps toward desired behavior.
- Practice training in the world of virtual reality by making tasks more difficult as learners improve.
Evaluation:
- Teachers turn in their assignment analysis worksheets for review.
- Virtual reality practical test in which teachers demonstrate that they can use modeling methods well.
